The recently passed Local Election Act ( NM House Bill 407 in 2019) has changed the election cycle for Soil and Water Conservation Districts across the state on November 5th, 2019. The Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District will have their election for seats 1,2, and 5.
On June 21st, 2019, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution to seek a levy of 1 mil. This is pursuant to the Soil and Water Conservation District Act Sections 73-20-25 to 73-20-48 NMSA 1978, to meet the needs of our communities.
Updates will be posted as more information on the candidates for VSWCD Board Supervisors and the Mil Levy Referendum becomes available.
Estimate what a 1 mil VSWCD levy will cost
Formula: Our annual mil levy will be calculated by using the statewide rate of one-third of the appraised value multiplied by one mil (.001).
Example 1: One acre of land with mobile home (mobile home is not included in the appraised value) $7,350.00 X .33 X .001= $2.42 per year
Example 2: 2.5 acres with 1800 sq. ft. home $89,000 X .33 X .001 = $29.37 per year
Example 3: 25 acre ranch with improvements. $518,391 X .33 X .001 = $171.07 per year
